Dr. Andra Basu, interim dean for the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC), has been honored with the 2017 Insight Into Diversity Giving Back Award for Administrators.
Basu chairs the college’s Diversity Committee, which was established last year to address one of the college’s strategic and presidential priorities to increase diversity on campus, student demographics, staff hiring and general awareness. She has worked closely with faculty, students and staff across campus and ensures the committee’s work closely aligns with the priorities of the college president Dr. Ann D. Bieber.
The award is the only national award that honors college and university administrators for their commitment to diversity. Dr. Thomas Meyer, LCCC vice president for Academic Services and Student Development, nominated Basu because of her leadership, dedication and demonstration of outstanding social responsibility throughout the LCCC campus and community.
Basu was recognized in the April 2017 “Leadership Support and Giving Back” issue of Insight Into Diversity magazine, a higher education diversity and inclusion magazine and website.
