LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

STUDENT OF THE WEEK

Q: What grade are you in?

A: I’m a senior at Salisbury High School.

Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?

A: I find something interesting in every subject. However, these past couple years I’ve developed a specific interest in my English classes. I love the creative freedom that those classes allow for in their writing and reading selections, as well as the excellent teachers who I’ve been lucky to learn from. The subject can address a wide span of issues within society.

Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A: I was proud to be inducted into National Honor Society last year. Additionally I have experienced success with the various clubs and sports I’m involved with. Most recently, I was a part of our district champion winning soccer team.

Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?

A: I’m am involved with the soccer team, Model United Nations team, Scholastic Scrimmage team, Future Business Leaders of America and I snowboard in my free time. Last year I spoke at the TEDx event Salisbury hosted.

Q: What is your next goal after high school?

A: I aspire to go to college and study while pursuing opportunities that will expose me to new cultures, ideas and beliefs. I hope to be able to travel a lot.

Q: What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?

A: My biggest challenge would have to be trying to find time where there seems to be none. Sometimes it’s hard to choose between staying up late studying or conversing with friends. It’s been a challenge to balance school, sports and a social life, but it’s been a good prep for the rest of my life.

Q: What do you want to be remembered for?

A: I would hope to be remembered for being flexible and understanding. I have prided myself on being a person and a student who can work with any situation. My educational and social life will bring me into contact with a diverse group of people. I hope I leave the impression of being an adaptable person.

Q: Who is in your family?

A: I am an only child, so my family consists of myself and my parents, Bob and LuAnn.

Q: Do you have someone you look up to?

A: Although I never had the opportunity to get to know him, I have looked up to my grandfather on my mother’s side, who died a few months before I was born. He was an engineering professor at Lehigh University and from what I’ve been told, everybody who met him left feeling like they had an intellectual conversation. I wish I had the opportunity to meet him.

Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?

A: I would advise my peers to avoid getting caught up too much into the past or the future. Try not to spend your time wishing you were somewhere else or wishing things had gone differently. Enjoy each moment as it happens, because nothing is guaranteed.
