STUDENT OF THE WEEK

Q: What grade are you in?

A: I am in 12th grade at Salisbury High School.

Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?

A: My favorite subject in school is physics because I am very interested in how the world works and I love learning the explanations for what happens around us.

Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A: I received a leadership award in freshman year and I have achieved high honor roll almost every quarter in high school.

Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?

A: I participate in our school’s instrumental band, chorus, theatrical productions and I am on the golf team.

Q: What is your next goal after high school?

A: My goal after high school is to attend York College of Pennsylvania and receive a degree in mechanical engineering.

Q: What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?

A: My biggest challenge has been finding a healthy balance between school and a social life; I feel that both are vital to achieve success.

Q: What do you want to be remembered for?

A: I would like to be remembered by those people that have gotten to know me over the past few years of my life. I hope that they not only remember me as a helpful peer, but also as a genuine friend.

Q: Who is in your family?

A: I live with my mom, Sally, and my dad, David, whom I am named after. We have a dog named Hayden, but I have no siblings.

Q: Do you have someone you look up to?

A: I have a lot of people in my life that I look up to. I look up to my parents because they are both very knowledgeable and know exactly how to help me when I’m in a rut. They have always stuck by my side and deserve a lot of the credit for all of my achievements. My theater directors Will Erwin and Nina Elias have also been a huge impact in my life; they have never steered me wrong and I can trust them with anything. I also look up to all of my close friends because I hold them very highly and I can always count on them for help or support in anything I do. Lastly, I look up to all my teachers because they have helped to make me who I am today.

Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?

A: The only advice I would offer to my peers is to stay true to yourself. Make sure you set goals, and you constantly work toward achieving them. If you’re having trouble, don’t be afraid to reach out to someone because there are so many people around you, you just have to open your eyes and see.
