The Salisbury tennis team participated in Friday’s Colonial League Tournament.
The Falcons’ John Yurconic won the No. 1 singles bracket, while teammate Mason Groff took first place at No. 2 singles. Ethan Heydt took second place at No. 3 singles, while the doubles pairing of Ryan Slutsky and Daniel Bonge finished third.
Yurconic, the top seed in his bracket, went through the No. 1 singles bracket with a pair of 8-0 wins in the first two rounds. He beat Moravian Academy’s Abbhi Sekar 8-2 in the title match.
Groff, who was also the top seed in his braket and won his first two matched by 8-0 scores, beat Saucon Valley’s Tej Laliwala 8-1 in the No. 2 singles final.
Heydt won 8-1 and 8-3 in his first two matches then fell 8-6 to Moravian’s Daniel Elmi in the title match.
Slutsky and Bonge were seeded third in the first doubles bracket. They won their first match 8-3 before falling in the semifinals. They bounced back with an 8-5 win over Pen Argyl’s top doubles team.
The Falcons’ No. 2 doubles team Nick Fortunato and Tyler Keller came into the tournament as the No. 6 seed and were eliminated in their first match, falling 8-1 to Bangor.
