Drug Take Back Day on April 29

The 13th National Take Back Day drug collection event has been scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 29.

Lehigh County residents can take expired and unused prescription and over-the-counter medications to police departments and other locations at various sites in the county.

Residents can dispose of capsules, pills, including pet medications, and liquids. Syringes or Sharps will not be accepted. Residents who dispose of medications will remain anonymous. No questions will be asked.

Medications will be collected at:

·South Whitehall Police Department, 4444 Walbert Ave., main entrance to the police department at the back of the Municipal Building on the lower level; and

·Upper Macungie Township Police Department, 37 Grim Road.

If residents can’t dispose of their medications during Take Back Day, they can deposit unused drugs in the permanent collection boxes at:

·Slatington Police Department, 125 S. Walnut St., Slatington, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday;

·South Whitehall Police Department, 4444 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall Township, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday excluding holidays; and

·Upper Macungie Police Department, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday excluding holidays.

Computer users may visit deadiversion.usdoj.gov. Click on “Got Drugs” to find locations. Click on “search for a collection site near you” and then enter Zip code.

This event is coordinated by the L.C. District Attorney’s Office, police departments, Allentown Health Bureau, State Police and the U.S. Department of Justice DEA.
