The 19th annual used book sale organized by the Friends of the Emmaus Public Library, part of a Community Day of Fun, will take place April 29 at Lower Macungie Middle School, 6299 Lower Macungie Road, Macungie. Over the course of these annual one-day sales, the Friends organization has raised well over $145,000 to benefit the Emmaus Public Library.
The event will begin in the school cafeteria 7 a.m. when an estimated 18,000 pre-enjoyed books go on public sale. Arranged by category for easier shopping, the books will include recent fiction, health and wellness topics, mysteries, histories, biographies, cook books, hobbies, business, literature and children’s books. To the delight of collectors, a special section of first edition and rare books will be also be available for sale at market prices.
The sale will shut down 2:45 p.m. for 15 minutes and re-open 3 p.m. for a “brown bag blow-out.” For 45 minutes, shoppers are invited to cram as many books as they can into a standard brown paper grocery bag or standard recyclable grocery bag and pay one price per bag. Shoppers should bring their own bags. Book sale proceeds benefit the Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main Street, Emmaus.
A Nutrition Health and Safety Fair, organized by Nutrition Inc., the food service provider of the East Penn School District will take place 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the school’s lobby and parking lot. The public will enjoy free food samples and health information.
