The Lower Macungie Township Historical Society has asked historian Martha Capwell Fox to present a slide show about the historical significance of the Lehigh Valley’s early industries 7 p.m. at Camp Olympic Barn, Upper Level, 3120 S. Emmaus Historical Society meets 7 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Lindsay Dierolf will tell the story of the “Boyertown Rhoads Opera House Fire” from Jan. 13, 1908 when 170 lives were lost. Props and photos will be displayed.

The Lehigh Valley Beekeepers Association will meet 7 p.m. at Northampton Community College, 3835 Green Pond Road, Bethlehem, Alumni Hall 130 A-D. Beekeepers Ron Bogansky and Paul Snellen will lead discussion on the springtime apiary duties of splits, swarm prevention and queen rearing. The event is free and open to the public. The Lehigh Valley Guild of Craftsmen is sponsoring a Redware Sgraffito Workshop at The Macungie Institute, 510 E. Main St., Macungie, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Denise Wilz will teach the workshop.

Upper Milford Historical Society meeting, 7 p.m. at the Upper Milford Township Building, Old Zionsville. The Friends of the Emmaus Public Library will host its 19th annual used book sale 7 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. at Lower Macungie Middle School, 6229 Lower Macungie Road.

The annual Trucks & More event will take place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Allentown Fairgrounds, 302 N. 17th St., Allentown. Families with children of all ages love this hands-on opportunity to explore heavy machinery and to meet the people who build, protect and serve the Lehigh Valley community. A variety of vehicles such as construction equipment, large trucks and emergency response vehicles will be available to explore. Free bicycle helmet and fitting given to all ages who participate, while supplies last. Tickets are available online at www.jllvpa.org or at the gate. The event will be held rain or shine and is sponsored by the Junior League of the Lehigh Valley. Bring hearing protection if your child is sensitive to noise.

Concordia Lutheran Church, 2623 Brookside Road, Macungie, ribbon cutting and open house 1 p.m. Special guests include the Emmaus High School Choir. Food and tours will be provided. All are welcome. Celebration services with communion will be held 8 and 10:45 a.m. April 30 with special guest preacher Rev. David Theile. A special lunch celebration will be held noon.
