LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

BRIEFLY

PENN STATE EXTENSION

The Penn State Extension continues to host public meetings about the Spotted Lanternfly, an invasive insect currently in Lehigh County and surrounding areas.

Meeting organizers will address topics such as:

•Why should we be concerned?

•What is the biology and life cycle?

•How does the quarantine order affect residents?

•What can you do to help?

Meeting dates include:

•9:30 to 11:30 a.m. April 22 at Lehigh County Ag Center, 4184 Dorney Park Road, Allentown

•6:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 26 at Brandywine Heights Middle School, 200 W. Weis St., Topton

•6:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 27 at Ruscombmanor Township Office, 204 Oak Lane, Fleetwood

•9:30 to 11:30 a.m. April 29 at the Milford Township office, 2100 Krammes Road, Quakertown

Volunteers also are needed to place sticky bands on Ailanthus altissima, or Tree of Heaven, plants throughout the summer and report how many spotted lanternflies are captured.

If you would like to do this on your property, stay for the last half hour of a meeting to learn what to do and get the supplies needed for the project.
