Rabbi Daniel Swartz, spiritual leader of Temple Hesed in Scranton, will be the guest preacher April 23 for the 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. worship services at Union United Church of Christ, Neffs.

His theme will be “Creation Care Beyond Blue or Red.”

The rabbi will join the adult education class 9:15 a.m. in Room 5 to share scriptural and practical guidelines for care of the planet. All are welcome to attend.

Swartz is president of the Pennsylvania chapter of Interfaith Power and Light, the mission of which is to be faithful stewards of creation through promotion of energy conservation, efficiency and support of renewable energy.

The group works to protect the Earth’s ecosystems, safeguard the health of all creation, and ensure sufficient, sustainable energy for all.

Swartz was executive director of the Children’s Environmental Health Network, associate director of the National Religious Partnership for the Environment, and held leadership positions in other organizations with similar concerns.
