BREAKING NEWS: Parkland High School teacher charged with illegal sexual contact with a minor student

Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin has just announced a Parkland High School teacher has been charged in relation to his inappropriate sexual contact with a student.

Christopher Johnson, 34, of 1734 Falcon Drive, Bethlehem, was charged with one count each of Unlawful Contact with Minors; Corruption of Minors; and, Institutional Sexual Assault, all felonies of the third degree.

Johnson surrendered with his attorney at South Whitehall Township Police Department and is being arraigned through Central Booking.

On April 2,the parents of Johnson’s victim, named here as Jane Doe, a minor, looked at their daughter’s cell phone and noticed there were allegedly inappropriate communications between Doe and Johnson.

School administration and police were notified.

On April 5, Detective Tim Shoudt, of the South Whitehall Township Police Department, and County Detective Andrew Millen, of the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office, interviewed the victim.

During that interview, it was learned Doe was being tutored by Johnson in an academic subject starting in January.

The victim related the relationship between her and Johnson allegedly changed from student-teacher to one of a sexual nature shortly after the tutoring began.

The sexual contact continued until late March.

The interview of the victim provided information that sexual intercourse between them allegedly took place at her residence as well as at other locations.

Johnson was interviewed and acknowledged he did communicate with Doe via text messages from his cellular phone.

It was allegedly determined through forensic examination of both the victim’s and the defendant’s cell phones the content of their texts was sexually graphic.

The texts described their sexual activities and the scope of their contact in detail.

Martin commended the Parkland School District and Superintendent Richard T. Sniscak for their cooperation throughout this investigation.
