Lower Macungie Township officials received an anonymous letter in reference to the continuing development in the township March 24. The letter, received at the township building at 3400 Brookside Road, was a newspaper clipping of the event with explicit language and was of a threatening nature, according to police. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Pennsylvania State Police at 610-395-1438.
On Feb. 16, Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville troopers were notified of a 40-year-old female and other unknown suspects entering 11 Giant stores located in Lehigh and Northampton counties and purchasing Visa gift cards with a fraudulent credit card. A felony arrest warrant was issued.
A resident of Stole Road, Upper Milford Township, notified police of an attempt to make a fraudulent purchase of an item using the resident’s credit card 4:22 p.m. March 14.
Reported by a resident in the 3200 block of Church View Road, Lower Milford Township, unknown actors attempted to open a credit card in the resident’s name Feb. 22.
Reported by a 55-year-old female, of Breinigsville, money went missing from the woman’s purse while at Giant, 7150 Hamilton Blvd., Lower Macungie Township, between 7:09 a.m. and 1 p.m. March 13.
A 14-year-old male, of Macungie, reported to troopers his bicycle was removed from the Lower Macungie Township Recreational Building in the 1000 block of Village Round between 6:15 and 6:45 p.m. March 20.
Andres Alberto Valencia, 38, of Macungie, was taken into custody for alleged simple assault after a verbal altercation escalated in the 3700 block of Knight Drive, Lower Macungie Township, 12:28 p.m. March 21. According to police, Valencia allegedly placed his hands around the neck of the victim and applied pressure for a period of 10 seconds and then pushed the person into a wall. Charges were filed, according to court documents.
Zachary Paul Shellenberger, 21, of Alburtis, was charged with suspicion of retail theft after he was located inside Walmart, 1091 Mill Creek, Lower Macungie Township, with store merchandise allegedly concealed on his person and in bags 11:09 p.m. March 4. Charges were filed, according to court documents.
James Michael Motsko, 55, of Breinigsville, was charged with suspicion of retail theft, theft by deception and receiving stolen property after he allegedly was observed in Walmart, 1091 Mill Creek Road, Lower Macungie Township, 4:20 p.m. Feb. 24 removing multiple items from the shelves in the store and placing them in a shopping cart. Motsko then allegedly pushed the shopping cart to customer service where he returned five items from the cart and received $279.41 in credit onto a credit card. After completing the fraudulent transaction, Motsko allegedly pushed the cart of remaining unpaid merchandise totaling $199.72 out of the store before being stopped by loss prevention personnel who retrieved the cart before Motsko fled the scene. Charges were filed, according to court documents.
Clayton George Stauffer, 60, of Lehighton, was charged with suspicion of retail theft after he allegedly attempted to remove $75.48 worth of retail merchandise from Walmart, 1091 Mill Creek Road, Lower Macungie Township, 2:17 p.m. March 21. Charges were filed, according to court documents.
Two unidentified females entered CVS/Pharmacy, 958 S. Krocks Road, Lower Macungie Township, 1:15 p.m. March 20 and concealed approximately 10 Amope pedicure files before leaving the store without paying for the items. The females then fled in a dark colored sport utility vehicle, possibly a Jeep, with a Pennsylvania registration containing the numbers 3844. Reported at Walmart, 1091 Mill Creek Road, Lower Macungie Township, an unnamed 22-year-old female, of Allentown, entered the store 12:23 a.m. Feb. 27 and was waiting in line in the self-checkout aisle. According to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville, the woman proceeded to leave the store without paying for any of the items in her shopping cart. The woman walked out of the northern exit and was stopped by Walmart employees in the vestibule. The total value of stolen property was $356.88.
Reported at Walmart, 1091 Mill Creek Road, Lower Macungie Township, two males attempted to remove $951.83 in merchandise from the store 8:40 p.m. March 21.
Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville investigators investigated a report of arson at a property on Timberidge Lane, Lower Macungie Township, between 5 p.m. March 23 and 5:15 p.m. March 24.
A resident in the 1000 block of Timberidge Lane, Lower Macungie Township, reported unknown actors utilized a lighter to set a plant on fire between 12:01 and 7:30 a.m. March 9.
Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville troopers investigated a bad check scam where an unknown actor sent a counterfeit check to a resident on Cold Spring Road, Lower Macungie Township, March 16. The check was sent to the resident to purchase an item offered on Craigslist.
A resident in the 3600 block of Clauss Drive, Lower Macungie Township, reported an unknown actor threw four or five eggs at the siding of the residence 9 p.m. March 21.
Police responded to Univest Bank, 5089 Hamilton Blvd., Lower Macungie Township, for the report of a fourth false alarm within a consecutive 12-month period 7:50 a.m. March 24 resulting in a citation.
Police responded to AT&T, 750 Krocks Road, Lower Macungie Township, for the report of an eighth false alarm within a consecutive 12-month period 8:11 p.m. March 3. Charges were filed, according to police.
Police responded to FedEx Smartpost, 2929 Schoeneck Road, Lower Macungie Township, for the report of a fourth false alarm at the business within a consecutive 12-month period. Charges were filed, according to police.
Thomas John Maitski, 61, of Easton, was charged with allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol after a two-vehicle accident on Hamilton Boulevard at the intersection with Brookside Road, 6:36 p.m. Feb. 19. Charges were filed, according to court documents.
Ricardo DeJesus-Reyes, 34, of Lower Milford Township, was charged with alleged harassment after he grabbed a woman by the neck and wrist and struck her. Jacqueline Rivera-Figueroa, 30, of Lower Milford Township, was charged with alleged criminal mischief after she damaged a vehicle belonging to an Allentown resident during the same incident in the 1400 block of Limeport Pike, Lower Milford Township, at approximately 3 a.m. March 16. Charges were filed, according to court documents.
A Macungie man was taken into custody overnight March 22 after allegedly fleeing from police following a car chase and crash, according to Pennsylvania State Police Reading.
A felony warrant had been issued for Rodney McDonald, 36, of the 100 block of Hunter Forge Road, for allegedly fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and related charges.
According to a media release from Pennsylvania State Police Reading, a trooper attempted to stop a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee being operated by the accused in Topton Borough 11:45 a.m. March 22. McDonald allegedly failed to stop and led the trooper on a high speed chase that came to an end at the intersection of Schweitz Road and Deysher Road, Rockland Township, Berks County. The sport utility vehicle flipped onto its side and McDonald allegedly exited the vehicle and fled on foot into a wooded area. A Pennsylvania State Police helicopter, numerous troopers and a West Reading Police Department K-9 unit responded to the area for a search and a felony issue was issued, according to police.
An Allentown youth is dead after a shooting in Lower Macungie Township April 8.
Chris Perez, 17, of the 400 block of N. 15th Street, was identified in a media release from the County of Lehigh Office of the Coroner and Forensics Center. Perez was pronounced dead 4:37 p.m. at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest campus, Salisbury Township. An autopsy April 10 determined the cause of death is attributed to a shotgun wound to the body.
According to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville, a shooting was reported to have occurred at a residence in the 3900 block of Orchard Drive, Lower Macungie Township, at approximately 3:15 p.m. The incident was determined to involve several juveniles and was reported to be accidental in nature. The investigation is continuing, according to police.
