Students of the Month are recognized

Four Northampton Area High School seniors - Alexis Christein, Gabrielle Gallo, Larry Eyre and Zachary Fisher - were added to the Northampton Exchange Club rolls as Students of the Month for the 2016-17 school year.

At a Service to Youth ceremony held April 5 at Northampton Banquet & Event Center, the honorees, lauded for their in-class and out-of-class endeavors, were presented with Lamp of Knowledge plaques, certificates and pens.

Dr. Rodger Berg, in extolling the success the students have achieved, said among the traits each of the students possess is a positive attitude, a willingness to work and achieve, and motivation.

“You need to want,” Berg said.

Christein, named Girl of the Month for March, is a member of National Honor Society; girls varsity/JV soccer; Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA), president; and Pennsylvania DECA, vice president. She has participated in the school art show and has attained distinguished honor roll every quarter of every year. She volunteers for Miracle League and Peaceable Kingdom animal shelter.

Eyre, named Boy of the Month for March, is a member of National Honor Society; German Club, treasurer; P.E.A.C.E.; and Northampton County 4-H, president. He volunteers at the Pennsylvania State Farm Show.

Gallo, named Girl of the Month for April, is a member of National Honor Society, Caring Kids, Volunteer Club, girls soccer, Snowboarding Club, Spanish Club, Student Council, Future Business Leaders of America and Power of Cinema. She is a volunteer at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg and an aide in the high school guidance office.

Fisher, named Boy of the Month for April, is a member of National Honor Society, boys soccer, German Club and DECA. He is a volunteer at Gracedale Nursing Home.
