Freedom hopes that this spring can be a breakout campaign for the girls lacrosse program.

After an 8-10 finish a year ago, head coach Charis Innarella enters her fourth year at the helm optimistic with what this year’s crop of girls can achieve.

“We have exceptional leadership this season within our core players,” said Innarella. “Our stick skills continue to improve and we have gained valuable experience over the past season. The success of our team will feed off of the closeness and passion our kids have for each other and for the game of lacrosse.”

The team will be led by a trio of captains Sr. ATT Lauren Abel, Sr. MID Abby Rowan, Sr. MID Emily Rowan Sophomore defender Emma Telatovich will also have a big impact on the team.

Newcomers include freshmen Katie Flynn and Lily Judge, as well as junior Shelby Millheim.

“Leading our attack along side Emily Rowan, who returns for her senior season with over 100 goals is Lauren Abel,” said Innarella. “Add in Abby Rowan, our assist leader, and Emma Telatovich, the backbone of our defense. They’ll be surrounded by a handful of incoming players that will make a sudden impact.”

The Pates now hope the efforts of their key players can be supplemented by the rest of the squad.

“We need to continue to work hard and improve as a team,” Innarella said. “We’ll continue to build a strong defensive unit, work on controlling the draws and build on our offensive strengths. We are anxious to get back on the turf and get our season started. We want our kids to play hard stay together, have fun and success will take care of itself.”
