Salisbury Township Police and Allentown City Police teamed up March 30 to work an aggressive driving speed detail under the Aggressive Driving Grant. The detail was held 3 to 7 p.m. in the area of township and city borderline on East Texas Road near Flexer Avenue.
Officers issued a total of 37 citations, mainly for excessive speeding. “The fastest vehicle timed in this posted 25 mph speed zone was traveling at 68 mph. Several other vehicles timed were traveling at about double the legal speed limit,” Salisbury Township Police Department Cpl. Bryan Losagio said.
Salisbury Township Police target areas known for aggressive driving and will continue to do so in the months to come. These areas generally have a high crash rate and/or have been determined to be a dangerous roadway based upon traffic studies conducted.
Salisbury Township Police ask all motorists to watch their speed and to pay attention. Several future speed safety details will take place in the weeks to come.
