Critically-acclaimed violinist Bella Hristova, right, joins the Pennsylvania Sinfonia Orchestra for a performance of Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor at 7:30 p.m. April 1, First Presbyterian Church of Allentown.
The program, “Power and Grace,” directed by PSO Music Conductor Allan Birney, includes Beethoven’s Egmont Overture and a Serenade for String Orchestra by Tchaikovsky.
The Washington Post praises Hristova as “a player of impressive power and control.” The Strad observes, “Every sound she draws is superb.”
She has performed extensively as soloist, including with Pinchas Zukerman and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s at Lincoln Center and the New York String Orchestra under Jaime Laredo at Carnegie Hall, and as a chamber musician with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and at music festivals worldwide. Hristova is the recipient of numerous prizes and awards, including a 2013 Avery Fisher Career Grant.
Hristova plays a 1655 Nicolò Amati violin, once owned by the violinist Louis Krasner.
