State Young Republicans elect Ashmar, Szuchyt as directors-at-large

The Pennsylvania Young Republicans elected a new chairman, Rick Loughery of Chester County, to lead the organization with new energy and a new path forward at its annual convention in Hershey following the Republican Party of Pennsylvania’s official meeting.

Elected with unanimous support by the membership of the Pennsylvania Young Republicans, Chairman Loughery outlined a vision to build new chapters in counties across the state and to support the growth of existing chapters, as well as strengthening the organization’s relationships within the Republican Party.

“With chapters all across the Commonwealth, this is the gateway organization for young professionals to get involved in Republican politics,” Loughery stated. “This is the ground floor for young activists and those who dream of serving in public office in the future.

“Our job is to recruit young people to get involved, build relationships within the party and advocate for young Republicans across Pennsylvania.

“We are the future of the Republican Party, and that future begins today.”

Loughery, born and raised in Phoenixville and a current resident of Coatesville, is the chairman of the Chester County Young Republicans and the county’s elected Recorder of Deeds.

The Pennsylvania Young Republican chairman serves as the chief executive officer of the organization, spokesman and chief representative for young Republicans across the commonwealth and on the national stage.

Loughery was elected alongside a slate of highly qualified young professionals from Lehigh County: Makala Ashmar, and Matthew Szuchyt, directors-at-large.

“Together, [we] will create an organization that brings Young Republicans together, supports conservative values and advocates for the future of the Republican Party in Pennsylvania,” added Loughery.
