Hamilton College

Codi C. Reynolds, daughter of Linda and Herman Reynolds of Whitehall, was recently elected to the Epsilon Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa at Hamilton College. Reynolds, a senior majoring in Asian studies and comparative literature, is a graduate of Whitehall High School.

Phi Beta Kappa, which established a chapter at Hamilton in 1870, is the oldest and most prestigious honor society in the country. Students are elected to membership in recognition of their exceptional academic achievement in fulfilling the goals and purposes of the college.

Hamilton College is a highly selective residential college offering a rigorous liberal arts curriculum.

Wilkes

University

Summer Rivera, of Northampton, was one of eight Wilkes University students who participated in an alternative spring break trip to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Alternative spring break offers students an opportunity to perform community service while experiencing a different culture and developing their leadership, teamwork and critical thinking skills.

The Wilkes students spent five days teaching an English as a Second Language program at the Centro Cultural Guanin, a year-round program that serves students of all academic and age levels. Erica Acosta, Wilkes associate director of diversity affairs, and Evene Estwick, associate professor of communication studies, chaperoned the trip.

Wilkes University is an independent institution of higher education dedicated to academic and intellectual excellence through mentoring in the liberal arts, sciences and professional programs. In addition to 41 undergraduate majors, Wilkes offers Doctor of Nursing Practice, Doctor of Education and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees and more than a dozen master’s degree programs, including the Master of Business Administration and Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing.

BLOOMSBURG UNIVERSITY

Stephanie Haller, of Whitehall, was among those who graduated with Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s winter 2016 class.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology.

Bloomsburg University is one of 14 universities in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. It serves approximately 9,600 students, offering comprehensive programs of study in the colleges of Education, Business, Liberal Arts, and Science and Technology.

Ithaca College

Ithaca College congratulates students named to the dean’s list at Ithaca College for the fall 2016 semester.

Bath: Dakota Collina, a communication, management and design major at the college’s School of Communications

Whitehall: Giancarlo Levano, a music education major at the college’s School of Music

Located in New York’s Finger Lakes region, the college is home to 6,100 undergraduate and 460 graduate students.

Cedar Crest College

Cedar Crest College congratulates students who were named to the fall 2016 dean’s list, earning a minimum GPA of 3.65 for the academic semester.

Located in Allentown, Cedar Crest College was selected as a top regional college and a best value in the U.S. News and World Report’s best colleges rankings, 2012-16, and best college for veterans in 2015 and 2016. In addition, the college is the fourth best online college in Pennsylvania, ranked by Best in State Online Colleges in 2016, and the School of Adult and Graduate Education was ranked a Top 50 school for adult education by Best College Reviews in 2015.

Founded in 1867, Cedar Crest currently enrolls approximately 1,500 students in more than 30 fields of study.

Kutztown University

Brooke Fontoura-Sutliff, of Northampton, and Samantha Jill Donohue, of Whitehall, were inducted into Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society at Kutztown University Feb. 21.

Founded in 1897, Phi Kappa Phi is the nation’s oldest, largest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. It is a global network comprised of the best and brightest from all academic disciplines - a community of scholars and professionals building an enduring legacy for future generations.

Founded in 1866, Kutztown University of Pennsylvania is located on 289 acres nestled in the East Penn Valley in Berks County, between Reading and Allentown.

Rochester Institute of Technology

The following local residents made the dean’s list at Rochester Institute of Technology for fall 2016-2017 semester. Degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible for this status if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.400; do not have any grades of “Incomplete,” “D” or “F”; and have registered for and completed at least 12 credit hours.

Coplay: Jacob Anchorstar, studying in the mechanical engineering program; Noah Smith, studying in the game design and development program

Whitehall: Emily Lazarus, studying in the biomedical engineering program

Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) is home to leading creators, entrepreneurs, innovators and researchers. Founded in 1829, RIT enrolls about 19,000 students in more than 200 career-oriented and professional programs, making it among the largest private universities in the United States.

Colgate University

Brittany Quinn, of Whitehall, earned the dean’s award for academic excellence at Colgate University for the fall 2016 semester. Quinn is a Whitehall High School graduate and Class of 2020 member. The dean’s award at Colgate is awarded to students with a 3.3 or higher term average.

Colgate University offers 55 majors to a diverse student body of approximately 2,900 undergraduate students and supports 25 Division I athletic teams. Since 1819, the university’s campus in rural central New York has been renowned for its beauty and for the important role it plays in the student experience.
