The Woman’s Club of Whitehall has named Maria Tran its Girl of the Month for January.

A senior at Whitehall High School, she is the daughter of Thanh and Huong Tran of Whitehall.

She earned honor roll or high honor roll all marking periods.

Tran is a member of Leo Club (president and blood drive chairperson), Art Club (president), Outdoors Club, Human Rights Club (president), Model UN and girls tennis team.

She also is a member of National Honor Society (treasurer), Spanish National Honor Society (president), English National Honor Society (treasurer), Mu Alpha Theta and Science National Honor Society.

She has been named Artist of the Month during her high school years.

Tran has played the piano for 12 years and the violin for three years. She has been a skier for 10 years.

She earned Nghia Si of the Year and Hiep Si of the Year honors. She is a Vacation Bible School volunteer and altar server.

She has participated in the Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement.

Tran plans to attend college to become a physical therapist.
