George E. Riddle III

George E. Riddle III, 46, of Allentown, died peacefully March 18, 2017, in the Inpatient Hospice Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown.

Born in Altoona, Blair County, he was the son of Marian L. (Bougher) Riddle Dietz of Slatington and the late George E. Riddle Jr.

He was the stepson of Paul W. Dietz of Slatington, whom he lovingly called his ”best friend.”

A 1991 graduate of William Allen High School, he attended Good Shepherd Work Services where he later obtained a full-time job until his health declined in 2014.

He enjoyed participating in the Lehigh County Special Olympics Skiing Program where he received numerous medals. He also enjoyed the Lehigh County Special Olympics Bowling program, receiving his last blue ribbon on March 11.

In addition to his loving mother and stepfather, he is survived by a brother, Samuel J. and his wife, Kristeen, of Altoona; nephew Blake; niece Brylee; step-grandfather, Paul F. Dietz, who he lovingly called “Pop”; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

His memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. March 25 in Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, with Pastor Mike Hothouse officiating.

Visitation is from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
