FBI, bomb squad investigate items brought to hospital

Salisbury Township Police were called to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township at 2:03 a.m. March 16 to take possession of items belonging to a man who was MedEvac’d to the hospital that morning.

The man reportedly was on the Appalachian Trail, near Hawk Mountain, Kempton, when he was injured by an explosion.

Following the explosion, which affected his hand and arm, the man was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital.

Police allegedly took possession of drug paraphernalia, six knives, a Smith & Wesson revolver, black gun powder, fuses and other unknown substances.

All items were transported to the Salisbury Township Municipal Building where FBI, Allentown Bomb Squad and HazMat personnel set up a staging area to test the items.
