Two Salisbury Township Police Department officers were lauded by the Emmaus Police Department for their assistance after a February bank robbery in Emmaus.

In a letter shared with Salisbury Township Board of Commissioners at the March 9 meeting, Salisbury Township Chief of Police Allen W. Stiles said Salisbury Police Department Sgt. Donald Sabo and Cpl. Bryan Losagio assisted following a Feb. 15 armed bank robbery at Key Bank, 731 Chestnut St., Emmaus.

Stated the Feb. 27 letter from Emmaus Chief of Police Charles Palmer to Stiles: “On behalf of the Emmaus Police Department, I would like to thank Sgt. Donald Sabo and Cpl. Bryan Lossagio for their assistance on Feb. 15, 2017, during the armed bank robbery of the Key Bank located at 731 Chestnut St.

“Our reports indicate that not only did they provide support during the vehicle pursuit of the suspect; after the suspect was taken into custody they responded to Key Bank and assisted with an area search for a weapon.

“Their eagerness and willingness to assist our department during this incident did not go unnoticed or unappreciated.”

An Allentown man was accused of robbing Key Bank Feb. 15 and leading police on a chase in Lehigh County.

John Cruz, 41, was stopped by Pennsylvania State Police on Route 309 in Upper Saucon Township.

Cruz, whose residence was listed as in the 200 block of North Fourth Street, Allentown, was arrested. He is charged with alleged robbery, simple assault and related charges.

Cruz is said to have taken $2,000. Officers spotted his vehicle on Lehigh Street, near 33rd Street. His vehicle was said to reach speeds of more than 80 mph on Interstate 78.
