Three Lehigh Valley Press teams moved on in state play Thursday night and will continue their quest for a state title.

The Emmaus boys knocked off Harrisburg 64-61 in a game that was supposed to be played Wednesday night. The Hornets got off to a nice start leading 19-13 after one and 32-22 heading into halftime. But Harrisburg would cut the lead to just 44-43 after three quarters before a close fourth quarter of action left Emmaus out in front in the end.

David Kachelries scored 24 while Matt Kachelries added 14 in the victory. Matt would also score his 1,000th career point in the win.

The Hornets reach the quarterfinals and will play again on Saturday against fifth seed from District 3 - Carlisle, which was an 85-69 winner over Lincoln. A site and time were yet to be announced at the time this was posted. Should the Hornets win, it would set up a semifinal matchup vs. the winner of Butler and Pine Richland next Tuesday.

Two area girls teams also advanced as Becahi and Northampton lived to play another day.

The Kids beat Abington, the top seed from District 1, 73-68 in a contest that was supposed to take place Tuesday but was postponed because of the snow. Victoria Keenan remained red hot in the team’s playoff run. She led the way with 26 points, which included a three-pointer. Senior Aja Blount was also key in the game netting 22 while Jenna Rogers added 14 points.

The NHS girls are the only Lehigh Valley area team remaining from the East Penn Conference.

NHS will play Boyertown, which was a 53-48 winner over Garnet Valley. That game also takes place on Saturday however no time and location had been set at the time this was posted.

Bethlehem Catholic was huge winner on Thursday night, beating Berks Catholic 72-35 in a game that was supposed to take place Tuesday.

The Hawks did enough damage early on to really set the tone in this contest, jumping out to a 21-5 lead after one quarter before taking a 44-17 lead into the half.

The Hawks used a balanced attack and got a lot of girls involved in the win. Tessa Zamolyi led the way with 16 points including a three-pointer. Both Neila Luma and Natalie Rhine added 13 with Rhine also hitting a three. Taliyah Medina hit two threes as part of her 12 points.

Becahi will also play on Saturday, facing Lower Moreland which won 33-20 over Berwick. Lower Moreland is the top seed from District 1. No date and time had been announced at the time this was posted.
