Lynnport fire chiefs give company reports

Lynnport Fire Chief Clark Mantz told Lynn Township supervisors at their March 9 meeting volunteer firefighters responded to six calls during February for a total of 11 for this year.

Two new firefighters joined the company and will be taking basic training.

Three more Fridays are left for the fire company’s 20-week ticket fundraiser. These include March 10, 17 and, 24, with the drawing on Friday, April 21.

Filling and bacon dressing orders are due by April 7 with pickup April 15.

The Easter Bunny will visit the fire company for a breakfast with youngsters and their families 9 a.m.-noon April 9.

New Tripoli Fire Chief Peter Christ reported volunteer firefighters responded to 34 fire calls as of March 5.

Background checks for a new firefighter and kitchen help were turned in. Meetings will be held with the New Tripoli Bank directors for financial support on April 4 and with state Sen. Pat Browne on May 5.

The fire company will have a filling and bacon dressing sale with orders due by March 31. Pickup is April 15.

Other upcoming events are a hoagie sale, farm festival and the guns and cash bash, with the drawing on Sept. 23.

The fire company will be giving away more than $20,000 in guns and cash with a first and last prize worth $1,000.

A motion was made by Supervisor Brian C. Dietrich and seconded by Supervisor Steve I. Feinour for the New Tripoli Fire Police to assist May 6 for Farm Fest in Ontelaunee Park; the March 19 St. Patrick’s Day Parade; May 27 5K run in Ontelaunee Park; April 23 St. Luke’s Half-Marathon; July 30 Puerto Rican Day Parade; September 2017 Via Marathon; October 2017 Halloween Parade.

The option carried unanimously.
