Macungie Police Department and Macungie Ambulance Corps will host a standardized field sobriety testing practitioner course 1 p.m. March 15.

Twenty police officers from Lehigh County and other area departments are registered to participate in the course. The course is designed to provide instructional and practical experience to law enforcement officers by demonstrating techniques that can be utilized in the field for detection of a person who is under the influence of alcohol and other drugs. Class participants are trained in the techniques of conducting the standardized test battery. Local residents have been screened and selected as volunteers to give law enforcement officers a realistic hands-on experience.

Cody Faust, 27, unknown address, allegedly was a passenger in a vehicle when it was stopped for code violations in the 200 block of West Main Street Feb. 23. According to police, Faust was found to have outstanding warrants and was taken into custody by Lehigh County Sheriff Deputies at the scene. Faust was taken to the Lehigh County Central Booking Processing Center.
