Kevin Williams
Q. In what grade are you?
A. I am a senior at Emmaus High School.
Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?
A. I love taking AP Government and AP Economics this year. Both classes energize me to learn about how society works. I look forward every day to learning about new market structures or discussing shifting demographics revealed by polling. The way in which society reacts to different events is fascinating to me.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. I am in the top one percent of my class, have been on the principal’s honor roll every semester and an AP Scholar. I have been recognized by many teachers for academic excellence. I am a member of National Honor Society, Tri-M and German Honor Societies. I am the boys soccer Scholar Athlete and an Eagle Scout. I have represented the school at PMEA district and regional band and orchestra. For the past three years, I have been selected to the PMEA district, regional and all-state choirs. I also was selected to the NAfME All-National and All-Eastern Choirs.
Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?
A. I am on the varsity soccer team. I play the trumpet at EHS in band, jazz band, wind ensemble and orchestra. I also play in the Young People’s Philharmonic brass quintet. I am a cantor and musician at my church, Saint Thomas More. I am a chorale officer at EHS and sing in boys concert choir, select choir, chorale and Fermata Nowhere. I also perform service in the Interact Club and Boy Scouts.
Q. What is your next goal after high school?
A. I will be attending Princeton University as a public and international affairs major. My goal is to enter their dual degree program with the Royal College of Music in London as a vocal performance major.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. The most challenging thing I undertook in high school was balancing my work load. I have had to balance a varsity sport, music ensembles, a full schedule with no lunch or study halls, AP classes, college applications and auditions, while still finding down time to relax with friends.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. I want to be remembered as someone who was well accomplished and respected in numerous areas and someone whom my peers and teachers could depend on.
Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.
A. My parents are Cindy and Jerry Williams. I have two cats, Arthur and Heather.
Q. Whom do you admire? Why?
A. I admire my parents as they manage to live their lives while still opening me up to as many opportunities as possible.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. Pursue everything you can in high school. The chances you get now shape who you will become in the future. Work hard as the choices you make in these years will affect you the rest of your life. Above all else do what makes you happy.
