Remove old drugs from cabinets

District Attorney Jim Martin is asking residents to clean out their medicine cabinets this coming weekend when they change their clocks for Daylight Saving Time.

Martin encourages Lehigh County residents to give their medicine cabinets a spring cleaning.

“Lehigh County residents should take this opportunity to identify and dispose of unused and expired prescription and over-the-counter medications, some of which can be both dangerous and addictive,” Martin said. “These drugs need to be removed from homes in a timely manner.

“Doing so in conjunction with Daylight Saving Time is an easy way to remember to regularly check and dispose of unwanted medication.”

Disposal of these medications can be done at the permanent medication collection box sites throughout the county including:

·Slatington Police Department, 125 S. Walnut St., Slatington, 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. Monday-Friday.

·South Whitehall Township Police Department, 4444 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall Township, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday, excluding holidays.

Upper Macungie Township Police Department, 37 Grim Road, Upper Macungie Township, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday, excluding holidays.

“With collection boxes available throughout the county, it’s easy for residents to rid their homes of these items and to make their families safer at the same time,” Martin said.
