STUDENT OF THE WEEK

Q. What grade are you in?

A. I am in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subject is either anatomy or psychology because I really enjoy learning about how the mind and body work. I like that it is applicable to my everyday life and I find both subjects very intriguing.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I have been on the honor roll all four years of high school and have participated in both district and regional orchestra. I have received various awards through science fair competitions and I was a shavee in EHS’s 2015 Shave for the Brave event. Additionally, I am a member of National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?

A. I am president of the science fair club, orchestra and women’s choir. I am also in various other choral groups and auditioned string ensembles. In my free time I enjoy playing violin and piano as well as hiking and rock climbing.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. My plan is to attend University of Pittsburgh to major in rehabilitation science. I would then like to go on for my master’s degree to become a physician assistant.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. My biggest challenge by far was during the winter of my junior year when I underwent major back surgery. It was extremely difficult to balance recovery with schoolwork and easing back into the regular routine. Although it was a tough time, it has been extremely rewarding to know that I was able to make it through.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would really like to be remembered for being extremely selfless and caring as well as hardworking and smart.

Q. Who is in your family?

A. I live with my mom Mary Patricia, my dad Matthew, my siblings Ben and Lydia, my two adorable dogs Lizzy and Daisy and my violin Greg.

Q. Whom do you admire? Why?

A. The person I admire most is my sister Lydia. She is extremely intelligent and hardworking and I have always looked up to her for that. She encourages me to be the best that I can be and she is always there for me when I need her.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. Do your best starting from freshman year because, while it may not seem like it, your performance in the first year of high school is crucial. Additionally, never let your mental health take the back burner because even though high school can be stressful and intimidating at times, it’s important to put yourself before your schoolwork.
