The District 11 basketball tournaments continued Friday with Salisbury teams playing in boys Class 4A and girls Class 3A.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Octarora-Salisbury
The No. 2 seed Falcons got a career-high 35 points from Jaxon Costello to beat No. 7 Octarora 68-67 in overtime.
Costello went scoreless in the first quarter before erupting for 15 second-quarter points. Blake Jones added 10 points for the Falcons, while Sean Snyder and Jack Reichenbach had eight points each.
The Braves were led by Gary Grove with 24 points.
Salisbury (19-6) moves on to face No. 6 Jim Thorpe Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Allen in a Class 4A semifinal. The Olympians beat Lehighton 44-39 in double overtime Friday night to reach the semifinals.
The other side of the Class 4A bracket has top seed Bethlehem Catholic taking on No. 4 Saucon Valley. The Golden Hawks beat No. 8 Lower Moreland Friday night, 71-48. The Panthers topped No. 5 Tamaqua 59-51.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Salisbury-St. Basil Academy
The top-seeded Panthers beat the No. 8 Falcons 52-30 in a District 1/11 Class 3A quarterfinal game at Lower Moreland High School.
Undefeated St. Basil had three players score in double digits, led by Natalie Kucowski with 13 points.
Salisbury was led by Sarah McGee with 16 points.
The Panthers move on to face Pine Grove in Tuesday’s semifinals. The Falcons’ season comes to an end with the loss.
