The Allentown Music Club has announced Freedom High School senior Ryan Bailis, cellist, has won the club’s 2017 String Award, which is part of the National Federation of Music Clubs Crusade for Strings.

Club president Bob Premecz will present Bailis with the $400 scholarship award during the free, open-to-the-public 3 p.m. program March 5 at Jordan United Church of Christ, 1837 Church Road, South Whitehall.

The “A World of Music” program will feature cello selections by Bailis; singers Lynn German Long and Jeanne Harakal; clarinetist Sherman Cox; and accordionist Andy Harakal.

Piano accompanists will be Patty Alercia, Santa Peters and Young Musician Club member Shaumik Phadke.

Other performers will be pianist An Weatherhold and singer/guitarist Fyodor D’Souza.

There will be a free will offering with all donations going to support club scholarships.
