BREAKING NEWS: South Whitehall driver charged with hitting pedestrian

BREAKING NEWS: District Attorney Jim Martin just announced a South Whitehall man has been charged in connection with an incident in which he struck a pedestrian and immediately left the scene.

Joshua Stockman, 35, of 2112 Huckleberry Road, South Whitehall Township, was charged with one count each of aggravated assault by vehicle and having an accident involving death or personal injury - serious bodily injury, both third degree felonies.

Stockman was arraigned at Central Booking with bail set at $50,000/10 percent.

Martin alleges that at 10:30 p.m. Feb. 21, Stockman was driving northbound at a high rate of speed in the 400 block of N. Sixth St., Allentown, when he struck a pedestrian walking across the street.

Stockman allegedly drove around the victim, fled the scene and abandoned his vehicle a half a block from the site of the crash and continued fleeing on foot.

At this time, the victim is still unidentified. She is in critical condition in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
