LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

STUDENT OF THE WEEK

Q: What grade are you in?

A: I’m in 12th grade at Salisbury High School.

Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?

A: My favorite subject is mathematics because it inspires me to learn more about the natural world and expand my horizons.

Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A: Yes. I received The Morning Call Boys Swimmer of the Year, 2015 and 2016 and the Lehigh Valley Live Boys Swimmer of the Year, 2016. I am the recipient of a citation from the Pa. State House of Representatives sponsored by the Honorable Daniel McNeill, D-133rd. I received the USA Swimming Scholastic All American, 2015 and 2016 and am a four time PIAA State AA Gold Medalist and the 2016 PIAA AA State Swimmer of the Meet and a three time All State, 2014, 2015 and 2016. I am a recipient of Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science State Competition, first place 2014 and was first place at regionals and qualifier for the Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?

A: I swim on the Salisbury varsity swim team and am a member of the scholastic scrimmage team. I also swim year-round for Parkland Aquatic Club. I am a member of National Honor Society and FBLA.

Q: What is your next goal after high school?

A: Next year, I will be attending Harvard College in Cambridge, Mass. to study economics and compete on the varsity swim team. I hope to continue to have success in the classroom by taking challenging and interesting courses and become the best and fastest swimmer I can be during my four years in college.

Q: What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?

A: My biggest challenge so far has been working on and attempting to better my time management skills. It can be difficult to successfully tackle all of your goals when you have so many activities going on at once. I often have trouble finishing my schoolwork and being able to go to bed at a reasonable time, for I frequently get home late from practice and lifting.

Q: What do you want to be remembered for?

A: I most want to remembered for my dedication and persistence to the multiple clubs and organizations to which I belong. I hope some of my successes act as an inspiration to younger Salisbury students who might also have lofty goals. Nothing is impossible with the right work ethic and dedication.

Q: Who is in your family?

A: My parents Gregory Reihman and Kristin Reihman. I am the oldest of four siblings. My youngest brother is Xavier, my only sister is Tula and my other brother is Baxter. I also have two dogs named Romey and Chase.

Q: Do you have someone you look up to?

A: I most look up to my parents, who have been role models for me my entire life. I hope to one day live my life as happily and successfully as they do theirs and being able to look up to them has certainly been a benefit to me.

Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?

A: My one tip of advice to my peers is to continue to chase your goals. Motivation is nothing more than a feeling, which means that nobody feels motivated all the time, the same way that nobody feels happy all the time. Keep fighting and working toward your goals even when you hit roadblocks and feel unmotivated, because it will all pay off in the end.
