District news: Basket bingo event set for tomorrow

Lehigh Elementary School PTA will hold a basket bingo Feb. 24 in the school cafeteria. Doors open 5 p.m. The games begin 6 p.m.

Play bingo, enjoy good food and win some great prizes. Proceeds will benefit the school’s PTA and will be used for technology and school resources.

Each classroom has contributed a themed basket that can be won during the bingo.

Tickets for the basket bingo event are limited, so please respond to the flier that was sent home. If you are not a Lehigh Elementary parent, you may be able to purchase tickets at the door.

As a reminder, the community task force book drive began Feb. 21 and runs through March 6. It will be held throughout the district. The group will be collecting new and like-new books.

Read Across America will be observed throughout the district schools March 2 with fun activities to help inspire children and parents in reading. Read Across America is a national program that promotes reading and adult involvement in the education of students. The goal is to motivate children to read.

March is the birthday month of Theodor Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss. His books have helped many generations of children to learn the joy of reading.

Parents are encouraged to make a special time of reading together and to visit local libraries.

On March 3, Moore students will have their spring picture day. All students will be photographed, but purchase is optional.

PTA groups will meet in March. All are invited to join the group to help make a difference for many school activities.

Commemorative brick pavers that will be placed within the new memorial plaza outside the entrance of Al Erdosy Stadium and the entrance to the new district swimming pool are still available for purchase. This memorial plaza will be the center of the secondary campus.

This Buy a Brick fundraiser is sponsored by Northampton Area Konkrete Kids Educational Foundation, and all proceeds will be used to supplement and enhance Northampton Area School District K-12 education programs.
