State Police Troop M Fogelsville, are seeking the public’s help to find a silver, Audi four-door sedan, the driver of which fled from police during a pursuit around 6:30 p.m. Feb. 4 on I-78 East, Weisenberg Township.
According to Trooper Stephen M. DeAngeles, he was parked, operating a handheld radar gun when he saw the Audi enter the radar’s zone at 82 mph in a properly posted 55 mph zone.
DeAngeles said he pulled his patrol cruiser onto the interstate and began to follow the car.
The driver of the Audi changed from the left lane to the right lane without clearance in front of a tractor-trailer combo.
DeAngeles said he then positioned his cruiser behind the Audi in the right lane.
The driver then pulled the Audi onto the shoulder of the roadway and displayed its four-way hazard signals.
DeAngeles illuminated his emergency lights and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the car.
According to DeAngeles, the driver drove the car on the shoulder at a slow speed and failed to stop.
DeAngeles then activated his cruiser’s siren.
The driver then pulled the Audi into the right lane of the roadway and began to accelerate.
DeAngeles said he then initiated a vehicle pursuit.
The driver then moved the car to the left lane without using the turn signal.
The car was clocked at going 125 mph before again changing into the right then left lanes without a turn signal.
The driver then improperly passed a vehicle traveling in the left lane on the left center median shoulder.
The Audi then went from the left lane, across the middle lane and into the far right lane onto Route 22 eastbound, at which time the pursuit was terminated.
No description of the driver was provided and the incident remains under investigation.
Anyone with information regarding this incident or the car is asked to call Trooper DeAngeles at 610-395-1438.
