Residents thanked for 450 pairs of pajamas
At the Feb. 2 Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners meeting, Township Manager Bruce Fosselman shared a letter received from Children and Youth Services. The agency wrote a letter of thanks for the donation of 450 pajamas and books for children in need. The kind donations will allow 450 children cuddling time in their new, warm pajamas.
Several residents of Meadowyck Condominiums are asking the township to construct a fence along the township trail line. This is because people using the trail are littering and causing damage to the property.
A resident from Willow Lane spoke about traffic concerns along this road. While truck traffic may be of concern, what is of greater need is to address speed along the road. Reasons for the concern are because of pedestrians, particularly the elderly and cyclists. The speed board will be considered as well as additional law enforcement.
Cedar Crest Boulevard has a digital sign near Minesite Road. The message is about “slowing down.” A question was raised as to the origin of this sign.
Wildlands Conservancy is applying to the Department of Environmental Protection for removal of a dam on the Little Lehigh near Millbrook Farms. This action will help restore water quality, enhance riparian habitat and assist in making more passive recreation opportunities.
The Stonewall Meadow development, a small development of 24 houses, will begin shortly. This project is off of Gehman Road.
The Wescosville Park lights are being installed. Foundations for the poles have been poured.
The reconstruction project of the culvert at Schoeneck Road near the Hills of Lockridge is to begin soon. Schoeneck Road will be closed as of Feb. 13 and a detour is established. Check the Lower Macungie Township website for details. The funding for this project is being handled by The Hills of Lockridge developer.
The Macungie Road bridge project is up for bid. This is the second phase of this project. Presently, school buses are not permitted on this bridge due to the weight restriction.
Bidding will begin for a traffic light at Minesite Road and Cedar Crest Boulevard.
The audit advisory committee is seeking to replace some members as well as increase its size. This committee was originally three members, increased to five and now wants to increase to six. Commissioner Brian Higgins is not comfortable with making this committee bigger and voted “no” for this increase.
David Heid, Stephen Markovitz and Daniel D’Imperio were approved for this committee. The terms for Heid and Markovitz will expire in 2020 and D’Imperio’s term will expire in 2018.
There is a request for a street light at Harvest Lane between Briarwood Drive and Meadow Lane. This will be evaluated.
