District news: Founders Day event planned for Feb. 10
George Wolf’s PTA Founders Day celebration is set for 6:30-8:30 p.m. Feb. 10 at the elementary school.

As a reminder, online kindergarten registration started Feb. 1 and runs until Feb. 15. Visit Northampton Area School District’s website, nasdschools.org, for details and regulations for enrollment.

The middle school PTA meeting is set for 6 p.m. Feb. 14 at the school.

Schools will be closed Feb. 17 and 20 for the Presidents Day holiday.

The community task force book drive will begin Feb. 21 and run through March 6. It will be held throughout the district in all schools. The group will be collecting new and like-new books.

Lehigh Elementary School PTA will hold a basket bingo Feb. 24. Doors open 5 p.m. The games begin 6 p.m.
Play bingo, enjoy good food and win some great prizes. Proceeds will benefit the school’s PTA and will be used for technology and school resources.
Each classroom will be contributing a themed basket that can be won during the bingo. The PTA also is looking for donations for your child’s classroom basket. Each classroom has a theme, and your child has brought home that information. Basket items are due Feb. 14.

Northampton Area School District (NASD) will begin its Adult Community Education programs Feb. 13.
Classes offered are quilting, knitting and crocheting, multilevel adult yoga (now Tuesdays), family yoga, water aerobics (Tuesday and Thursday evenings), lap swim, guitar I and II, indoor spinning and men’s basketball.
All classes are held in the evenings at various school district buildings. For the aquatic programs, the Northampton Area Middle School pool will be used.
It is the goal of the NASD Community Education Program to offer the opportunity for adults to participate in courses that range from general education, fitness and leisure to personal interests. The courses are offered on a prepay or pay-as-you-go basis.
