Zephyr Elementary School’s Key Club has begun the Pennies for Pasta annual fund drive. Students and staff will be collecting spare change to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).

For more than 20 years, Olive Garden, the national sponsor of LLS’ Student Series, also participates in Pasta for Pennies and has rewarded elementary and middle school children for their participation in LLS’ Student Series. Student Series is a unique service-learning, philanthropy and character-building initiative in which students collect donations, including their own spare change, to support LLS’ efforts to find cures for blood cancers and ensure that patients have access to treatments.

The top fundraising classroom in each school receives a pasta party courtesy of Olive Garden. Join in the effort to help this great cause by sending in your donations of loose change. The drive will be held for the next few weeks, and each homeroom will be collecting and competing.

Gockley students are participating in Crayola’s Color Cycle Program. It involves reusing dried-up markers for clean energy. Instead of throwing away old markers, send them to school with your child.

The program is coordinated by the building’s art teacher, Mr. Chad Brader.

Parents can visit crayola.com/colorcycle for more information.
