Varsity Roundup: Northampton’s Blount drops 33 on Nazareth
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Whitehall-Parkland
The Trojans beat Whitehall 41-30.
Kassidy Stout and Emily Piston led a balanced Parkland offense with 10 points each. Rachel Medlar added 10 points for the Trojans (14-4 overall, 11-3 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference) and Devyn Anderson chipped in with seven points.
Whitehall (6-14, 4-10) was led by Kylee Cunningham’s 12 points.
Northampton-Nazareth
The Konkrete Kids beat Nazareth 58-42, handing the Blue Eagles their second lost in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference play and third overall.
Aja Blount poured in a game-high 33 points to lead Northampton (15-5 overall, 11-3 ECP), while Victoria Keenan added 15 points. Blount went 13-for-16 from the foul line, while Kennan was 5-for-6 at the stripe for the Kids, who made 23 of 29 free throw attempts.
Tessa Brugler and Jessica Durnin were held to 10 points each for Nazareth (17-3, 13-2).
Central Catholic-Emmaus
The Vikettes beat Emmaus 42-29.
Central Catholic (7-12, 6-8) was led by Margaux Eripret (14 points) and Diana Kocsis (13 points).
Briana Hart scored 10 points for the Hornets (9-11, 7-7)
BOYS BASKETBALL
The Hornets cruised to a 59-36 win over the Vikings.
Emmaus’ Matt Kachelries scored a game-high 25 points while making five three-pointers in the game. Twin brother David Kachelries scored 12 points. Daryn Lewis and Josh Artis added nine points each for the Hornets (16-3, 13-1).
Central (10-9, 7-8) was led by Dat Lambert with six points.
Nazareth-Northampton
Kevin Wagner’s 40-point effort helped Nazareth beat the Konkrete Kids 71-60.
Wagner made four three-pointers and shot 13-for-14 from the foul line for the Blue Eagles (5-15, 4-11)
Aidan Ellwood (23 points) and Morgan Heffelfinger (20 points) led Northampton (8-12, 3-11).
