Varsity roundup: Emmaus swimmers top Northampton
BOYS BASKETBALL
Salisbury-Northwestern
The Falcons routed the Northwestern 70-45.
Jack Reichenbach scored a game-high 21 points for Salisbury (15-5 overall, 12-4 Colonial League), while teammate Ryan Slutsky added 17 points and Jaxon Costello scored 11 points.
Sam Yadush led th Tigers (7-13, 5-12) with 16 points.
Stroudsburg-Bethlehem Catholic
The Mountaineers beat Bethlehem Catholic 61-53.
Dyony Bueno led three Stroudsburg players in double figures with 19 points, followed by Shon Wilson (13 points) and Nick Walter (11 points).
Ryan Young poured in a game-high 20 points for the Golden Hawks, while teammate Justin Paz added 14.
Moravian Academy-Catasauqua
The Lions edged Catasauqua 63-61.
Jordan Holquist scored a game-high 28 points and teammate Callen Messman added 14 points for Moravian.
The Rough Riders’ Jalen Green had 24 points, while Isaiah Graves scored 21 points and Colin Hawk chipped in with 10 points.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Bethlehem Catholic-Stroudsburg
The Golden Hawks beat Stroudsburg 52-32.
Taliyah Medina scored a game-high 17 points for Bethlehem Catholic, while teammate Neila LuMa added 16 points.
Northwestern-Salisbury
The Tigers beat Salisbury 50-25.
Leighanna Lister scored 16 points for Northwestern, while teammate Sage Christopher chipped in with 10 points.
Salisbury was led by Caylin Meikrantz with 11 points.
Catasauqua-Moravian Academy
The Lions beat Catasauqua 49-30.
Neelam Ferrari scored 12 points for Moravian, while Caronline Joseph chipped in with 10 points.
The Rough Riders’ Jade Biviano poured in a game-high 16 points.
SWIMMING
Emmaus-Northampton
The Hornets swept Northampton, winning the girls meet 98-79 and taking the boys meet 104-76.
Event winners for Emmaus girls were Kaitlin Hur (200 freestyle), Lydia Garton (200 freestyle), Abby Heilenman (50 freestyle), Erin Coffey (diving), Katie Champagne (100 freestyle) and Chelsea Gravereaux (500 freestyle). The Hornet girls also won two relays, taking the 200 medley relay (Chelsea Gravereaux, Abby Heilenman, Katie Chamagne, Marissa Decker) and the 200 freestyle relay (Erin Coffey, Reilly King, Katie Champagne, Chelsea Gravereaux).
Northampton’s Brynne Rockovits (butterfly, breaststroke) won two individual events and Alexis Frey (backstroke) won one. The Kids also won the girls 400 freestyle relay (Rebecca Nothstein, Alexis Frey, Larisa Calvo, Brynne Rockovits).
In boys events, Emmaus winners were Evan Bova (200 individual medley), Andrew Vanim (diving), Ethan Carr (butterfly), Ricky Thomas (500 freestyle), Cole Connolly (backstroke) and the 200 medley relay (Jason Yerger, Evan Bova, Ethan Carr, Connor DeJohn).
Northampton’s Michael Bauer (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle) won two individual events and swam on a pair of winning relays, while teammates Gavyn Frankenfield (200 freestyle) and Jared Iasiello (breaststroke) won one each. Northampton won the 200 freestyle relay (Joshua Millan, Jared Iasiello, Gavyn Frankenfield, Michael Bauer) and the 400 freestyle relay (Joshua Miller, Gavyn Frankenfield, John Kennedy, Michael Bauer).
Nazareth-Liberty
The Hurricanes swept Nazareth in a sweet meet. Liberty’s girls team won 100-77, while the boys team edges the Blue Eagles 93-90.
Event winners from the Hurricanes were Anna Lehr (200 freestyle), Julia McCarthy (200 individual medley), Cara Kuykens (diving), Kendra Smith (100 freestyle) and Kay Wetmore (500 freestyle). Liberty also swept the relays, winning the 200 medley relay (Sabrina Krotzer, Julia McCarthy, Samantha Taylor, Kendra Smith), 200 freestyle relay (Greta Stuckey, Kendra Smith, Abby Mack, Natalie Richardson) and
400 freestyle relay (Anna Lehr, Samantha Taylor, Abby Mack, Julia McCarthy).
Liberty boys event winners included Chase Ledger (IM) and Jake Evert (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle). The Hurricane boys also swept the three relay races, including the 200 medley relay (Jase Smith, Dylan Zukawski, Robert Negron, Jake Evert), 200 freestyle relay (Anthony Delcorso, Chase Ledger, Jase Smith, Ben Stuckey) and 400 freestyle relay (Chase Ledger, Ben Stuckey, Omar Mohamed, Jake Evert).
Freedom-East Stroudsburg South
The Patriots swept East Stroudsburg South, winning the girls meet 52-42 and taking the boys meet 58-36.
Event winners for the Freedom girls team include Sage Hillier (200 freestyle), Reilly Ward (butterfly, individual medley), Sydney Strake (200 IM), Erin Madden (100 freestyle), Rileigh Ellis (500 freestyle), the 200 medley relay (Reilly Ward, Laura Davison, Erin Madden, Sydney Straka) and the 400 freestyle relay (Sage Hillier, Hallie Smith, Emily Justice, Rileigh Ellis).
