STUDENT OF THE WEEK
Q: In what grade are you?
A: I am in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.
Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?
A: My favorite subject is math because I enjoy the satisfaction of solving a problem for a concrete solution. Math helps to develop an innovative and algorithmic mindset that can be applied to any subject and helps develop problem solving skills.
Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A: I am a National Merit Scholar Semifinalist, I have received the Academic Excellence Award three years in a row and I was recently Emmaus High School Music Department Student of the Month.
Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?
A: I am president of National Honor Society and president of EHS Drama Department. I also participate in the plays and musicals, the tutor coordinator program, EHS Chorale, Accabella, Hornet Ambassadors and take piano and voice lessons. I also teach piano lessons.
Q: What is your next goal after high school?
A: My goal after high school is to attend a college or university as a double major in vocal performance and computer science. Someday I hope to have a career that fuses music and technology in order to bring and teach music to people who may not otherwise have access to it.
Q: What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A: My biggest challenge recently has been trying to balance school, extracurriculars, friends, family and college applications and auditions.
Q: For what would you like to be remembered?
A: I would like to be remembered as a supportive and caring friend with a positive attitude and for being a hardworking and honest student.
Q: Who is in your family?
A: My parents are Vicki and Gerry Bezems, my brother is Ben Bezems and my dog is named Watson.
Q: Whom do you admire? Why?
A: I admire my grandmother, who has lived through so many struggles and has always been a role model for my faith and a positive source of encouragement for all members of my family.
Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?
A: Work really hard from the beginning and get your GPA up early. Exercise and hydration are extremely important. Never talk about anyone behind their backs and learn to drive stick shift.
