Public’s help needed identifying police impersonator in S. Whitehall

South Whitehall Township police are asking for the public’s help to find a man who was impersonating a police office 4:40 p.m. Jan. 28 in the 2900 block of Mauch Chunk Road, South Whitehall Township.

Police say a female motorist was stopped by an individual impersonating a police officer.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a black, unmarked vehicle having tinted windows with a chrome spotlight on the driver’s side and red and blue emergency lights on the front dashboard.

The impersonator is described as a white male, in his early 30s, with brown hair, hazel eyes, wearing blue trousers and a long-sleeve blue shirt with a badge and patch on the sleeve.

Police say he approached the woman’s vehicle and requested her driver’s license.

During the course of the conversation, the woman told him she was going to call 911.

The man then returned to his vehicle and left the area.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Lt. Michael Sorrentino at 610-398-0337.
