State police seek witnesses in fatal North Whitehall crash

State Police Troop M, Bethlehem, are asking for the public’s help regarding the Jan. 18 crash in which Betty J. Peters, 91, of Friedens Road, Washington Township, was killed.

Police say Peters was driving a white Chevrolet Lumina west on Levans Road, passing Apple Road, North Whitehall, sometime between 1 a.m. and 7:15 a.m. that day when she apparently failed to negotiate a right curve in the road and her car traveled off the road and hit a traffic sign and tree.

After hitting the tree, her car became airborne while rotating clockwise before coming to rest approximately 30 yards south of the road in the yard of a residence.

According to the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office, Peters was pronounced dead 7:32 a.m. in front of 4039 Levans Road.

Various members of State Police Troop M, Bethlehem, NOVA Ambulance Corps and the Schnecksville Fire Company assisted at the scene.

The car was removed from the scene by Stews Towing.

State police are asking anyone with additional information or who may have witnessed the crash to contact Trooper Robert Hooper at 610-861-2026.
