PPL Corporation donates $10,000 to Red Cross Lehigh Valley-Bucks

The American Red Cross Lehigh Valley-Bucks Chapter recently received a $10,000 grant from PPL Corporation to support local disaster relief and the Home Fire Campaign.

The Red Cross Home Fire Preparedness Campaign addresses common causes of residential fires and helps families and individuals prevent and prepare for these events.

PPL’s support also assists the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and recover from local emergencies and disasters.

American Red Cross officials stressed the importance of PPL’s donation in helping expand their services in the region.

Home fires impact more people across the county each year than all other natural disasters combined, and the Red Cross program will include more than 3,000 home visits to install smoke alarms and replace batteries, complete home safety checklists and help families develop an escape plan.

PPL Foundation awards annual grants through a competitive application and review process.

“PPL is committed to safety not just for our employees but also for our customers,” said Carol Obando-Derstine, regional affairs director with PPL Electric Utilities. “Because of this commitment, we are proud to support the American Red Cross Lehigh Valley-Bucks Chapter, which is helping to keep our customers safe.”

We appreciate their efforts in preventing and responding to fires and other disasters,” Obando-Derstine said.
