LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Bethlehem Catholic and Parkland boys basketball teams picked up wins Friday night, while the Parkland girls came up just short in a big Eastern Pennsylvania Conference showdown against Nazareth andSalisbury had a successful afternoon in the pool at Saucon Valley.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Bethlehem Catholic-Northampton

The Golden Hawks edged the Konkrete Kids 58-55.

DeAndre Gardner (13 points) and Just Paz (10 points) led a balanced Bethlehem Catholic (11-3 overall, 7-2 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference) scoring effort that saw five players score eight or more points, inlcuding Dameon Robinson with nine and William Nelson and Amir Pettiford with eight points each.

Northampton (6-9, 2-8) was led Aidan Ellwood’s game-high 21 points. Morgan Heffelfinger added 11 points for the Kids.

Nazareth-Parkland

The Trojans beat the Blue Eagles 81-67.

Parkland’s Jake Bartholomew made seven three-pointers and scored a game-high 23 points. Sam Iorio added 18 points and Michael Zeky chipped in with 16 points for the Trojans.

Nazareth was led by Nick Clark with 15 points.

Dieruff-Whitehall

Zach Gilbert and Logan McGinley combined for 55 points as the Zephyrs beat the Huskies 75-60.

McGinley poured in a game-high 24 points while Gilbert scored 21. Mike Esquilin chipped in with 12 points for Whitehall.

The Huskies got most of their points from two players. Fernando Hernandez scored a team-high 22 for Dieruff, while Curtis added 20 points.

Emmaus-Pleasant Valley

David Kachelries scored a game-high 34 points to lead Emmaus to a 62-44 win over the Bears.

Kachelries had 15 points in the first quarter and Emmaus jumped out to a 30-16 halftime lead. Matt Kachelries added 15 points for Emmaus.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Parkland Nazareth

The Blue Eagles held of the Trojans 31-28.

Parkland fell behind 9-3 after a quarter and was down 25-19 heading into the final quarter, came back took a fourth-quarter lead. However, Nazareth’s Tessa Brugler (20 points) got a steal and a lay up with under 15 seconds left to put her team ahead by three and all but seal the win.

Parkland was led Kassidy Stoudt with 14 points.

Pleasant Valley-Emmaus

Kiyea White scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Hornets to a 63-30 win over the Bears.

White scored 11 points in the first quarter as the Hornets jumped out to a 25-2 lead.

Emmaus’ Cayley Grabowski had a pair of three-pointers in the big first quarter and finished with eight points in the game. Briana Hart also scored eight points in the game, while teammate Ciara Wippel added seven points for the Hornets.

Pleasant Valey was led by Mikaela Miller with 11 points.

SWIMMING

Salisbury-Saucon Valley

The Falcons swept the Panthers, winning 98-64 in the girls meet and taking the boys meet by a 99-76 score. Salisbury Daniel Bonge knocked down a Saucon Valley pool record at the meet.

First place winners from the Salisbury girls team include the 200 medley relay of Sarah Bobeck, Vivian Rogers, Madaket Chassard and Madison Jewell with a time of 2:10:90; Brooke Rogers in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:22:12; Bobeck in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26:18; Brooke Rogers in diving with a score of 95.35 points; Chassard in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:09:65; Bobeck in the 100 freestyle with a time of 57.17; Chassard in the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:01:64, the 200 freestyle relay of Jewell, Brooke Rogers, Bobeck, and Chassard with a time of 1:51:99; Jewell in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:15:22; and Ruby Wiener in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:23:13.

First place winners from the Salisbury boys team include the 200 medley relay of Bonge, AJ Oliver, Mahlon Reihman and Aiden Carey with a time of 1:45:66; Ben Wiener in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:55:00; Oliver in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22:80; Tyler Keller in diving with a score of 255.35 points; Bonge in the 100 butterfly with a time of 52.47, which is a pool record; Reihman in the 100 freestyle with a time of 47.33; Wiener in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:15:94, the 200 freestyle relay of Oliver, Carey, Tim Sechler-Stone and Wiener with a time of 1:39:44; Daniel Bonge in the 100 backstroke with a time of 54:33; Reihman in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:01.95; and the 400 freestyle relay of Wiener, Sechler-Stone, Bonge and Reihman with a time of 3:28:55.

First place winners from the Saucon Valley irls team include Sydney Oskin in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:47:50, and the 400 freestyle relay of Sydney Oskin, Mary Johnson, Rachel Panek and Mackenzee Warnke with a time of 4:39.78.

First place winners from the Saucon Valley boys team include Thomas Madigan in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:10.07.
