Lehigh County Commissioner Tom Creighton III has announced his candidacy for Magisterial District Judge in District 31-3-01, which covers the borough of Slatington, and Lynn, Lowhill, Heidelberg, Washington and Weisenberg townships.

“I would first like to thank the current Magisterial District Judge, the Honorable Rod Beck, and wish him well on his upcoming retirement,” Creighton said.

“Judge Beck has been a keystone in keeping our community safe and ensuring the position of magisterial district judge has been one of integrity and justice.

“I personally would like to thank him for his selfless service and hard work he provided.”

Creighton has a history of serving the residents of Lehigh County.

He first served as a Lynn Township supervisor for six years then as a Lehigh County Commissioner, now in his eighth year.

He presently is the chairman of the Judicial and Corrections Committee of the county board of commissioners.

Creighton is employed as a legislative aide for state Rep. Gary Day, R-187th, and continues to dedicate himself to his community.

“It has truly been a great honor to serve in these positions and help our community grow and flourish,” Creighton said.

Creighton says he loves being a leader and the voice of the people by listening to the issues affecting the community.

That, he says, is why he can truly do great things for the people of the district by serving as their magisterial district judge.

“The gravity of being a magisterial district judge is an important one because this is the front line to putting the proper criminals in jail or releasing them back in to the community,” Creighton says. “That is why the principles of honesty, integrity and sound judgment are the guiding principles of my campaign.

“I will work hard with our local law enforcement to ensure we continue to make our community a safe place to raise our families in.”

Creighton says he looks forward to campaigning and meeting as many people as possible.

“In September of 2016, I completed the course of instruction and passed the examination required by the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and am qualified to perform the duties of a magisterial district judge,” Creighton said. “I can serve immediately upon being elected.”

Creighton and his wife, Suzanne, have two sons, Thomas and Zachary.

“I look forward to sharing the same goals of strong family values, safety and the security of our neighborhoods,” Creighton said.
