Carol W. Schillinger
Carol W. Schillinger, 86, formerly of Schnecksville, died Jan. 15, 2017, in The Lutheran Home at Topton.
She and her husband Robert C. Schillinger were married 67 years.
Born Feb. 6, 1930, in Sugarloaf, Luzerne County, she was the daughter of the late George P. and Margaret (Perry) Klinger.
A graduate of the McCann Business School, she was a legal secretary on Market Street, Center City Philadelphia, during her husband’s time in the U.S. Marine Corps.
She also worked as a medical secretary for surgeons from the Crippled Children’s Hospital who were affiliated with the Hazleton Hospital.
She observed operations from the surgical gallery taking shorthand for the surgeons.
Her family moved to Schnecksville in 1962 where she became a stay-at-home mother.
Once her children were in high school, she worked at the former Village Fashions Dress Shop, Schnecksville, assisting many women make a fashion statement.
She was a member of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, where she formerly served on the consistory.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by children Lynn C. Cronomiz and her husband, Dave, of Morgantown, Chris R. Schillinger and his wife, Denise, of Fogelsville; grandchildren Joel, Curt, Amilee, Scott, Erin, Kevin and Brett; and great-grandchildren Reese, Kinsley, Brock, Lia and Isabella.
She was predeceased by a sister Ruth Reisenweaver.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Jan. 20 at Union UCC, 5550 Route 873, Neffs, with the Rev. Dr. Patience D. Stevenson officiating.
Family and friends may pay their respects 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday in Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, and 9:30- 10:30 a.m. Friday in the church narthex.
Interment will take place 1 p.m. Saturday at Conyngham Union Cemetery with Pastor Sandra G. Murphy officiating.
