Students from the various career and technical programs at Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School (BAVTS) were inducted recently into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS), whose colors are silver, white and purple. Silver represents value and worth; white represents truth and honesty; and purple represents achievement and honor.
The motto of NTHS is “Excellence in America’s Workforce Begins with Excellence in Workforce Education.” This motto represents the organization’s belief that quality career and technical education is the pathway to creating careers and strengthening the country’s workforce, thus strengthening the country.
This year’s officers are Blaiz Maquire, president; Amber Hunsicker, vice president; Kayla Marsdale, secretary; and Ciara Barbosa, treasurer.
The purpose of the NTHS is to reward excellence in workforce education; to develop self-esteem and pride and to encourage students to reach for higher levels of achievement; to promote business and industry’s critical workplace values; to help schools build and maintain effective partnerships with local business and industry; and to champion a stronger, more positive image for workforce education in America.
This year’s advisers are Melodie Blozinsky, health careers; and Angela Thom, guidance counselor.
