District Attorney Jim Martin announced Jan. 11 a nurse has been charged with alleged indecent assault.
John Spanogle, 30, of the 1700 block of North New St., Bethlehem, was charged with one count of indecent assault, a misdemeanor of the second degree.
On Dec. 14, 2016, Spanogle was working as a nurse in the internal radiology department at St. Luke’s University Hospital, 801 Ostrum St., Bethlehem, where the victim, PJ, had a procedure performed. After the procedure was completed, Spanogle allegedly made inappropriate comments to the victim. He then transported her back to her room and allegedly made additional comments of a sexual nature while they were in transit. Once in the victim’s room, the defendant allegedly fondled her breasts and exposed himself to her.
The victim reported the incident, which was investigated by Det. Andrew Millen, sex abuse and child abuse investigator for the district attorney, who is the affiant on the complaint.
Martin noted the hospital’s security personnel and the administration were cooperative in this investigation.
As in every criminal case, the fact an arrest has occurred or a complaint has been filed is merely an accusation; and the defendant, John Spanogle, is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
