Six finalists chosen for 2017 Societas Award by DeSales U. Forum for Ethics in Workplace

The Forum for Ethics in the Workplace has announced the finalists for the fifth annual Societas Award for Responsible Corporate Conduct. The winner of the competition will be announced and presented with an award during a noon luncheon Feb. 2, DeSales University, Center Valley.

Six local companies made the list after completing a comprehensive process. They are: KMRD Partners Inc., Warrington, Bucks County; Concannon Miller, Bethlehem; MKSD Architects, LLC, Allentown; James Funeral Home & Cremation Services PC, Bethlehem; Boyle Construction, Inc., Allentown, and BerkOne, Bethlehem.

To be considered for the award, companies had to apply, or be nominated, and submit a detailed application that addresses recognized elements of ethical business practices such as formal codes of conduct, compliance with both the letter and spirit of the law, accountability at all levels of the organization, and good corporate citizenship.

At the awards luncheon sponsored by The Forum, a video presentation featuring segments from each company’s application will be shown.

The Societas Award is intended to demonstrate how companies incorporate ethical standards and best practices throughout their business model.

The Forum for Ethics in the Workplace is a not-for-profit, wholly-owned subsidiary of DeSales University. The Forum seeks to provide opportunities for people to come together for study, reflection, conversation and action on ethical issues in the workplace.
