Goodwill Fire Co. honors firefighters at awards banquet

Goodwill Fire Company, Germansville, recently honored their firefighters during an awards banquet.

Arnold Metzger, was named Firefighter of the Year.

The Lifetime Service and 25 Years of Service awards were given to Assistant Chief Richard Witt.

Witt was the first person to have his name placed on the fire department’s Outstanding Service plaque as he has held almost every position at the department from janitor to president to assistant chief over his many years of service.

Paul McAdams received the President’s Award.

Fire Chief Jay Scheffler received the Chief’s Award and Paul McAdams garnered the EMS Award.

The top responders were Arnold Metzger, first place; William Shellhammer, second place; and Erik Pfeifly, third place.

Years of Service gift awards went to Kay Fronheiser and Doris Koenig.

Firefighters receiving years of service coins included Jay Scheffler, 22 years; Randy Metzger, 18 years; Richard Witt, 27 years; Erik Pfeifly, 19 years; Paul McAdams, 10 years, William Schellhammer, 11 years; Kyle Smith, 5 years; Andrew Foulk, 10 years; Vanessa Blose, 2 years; Trevor Reichard, 2 years; Ryan Backenstoes, 5 years; Paul Zanelli, 2 years; Eric Laub, 8 years; Grant Grim, 5 years; Richard Young, 1 year; John Fritz, 11 years; Jeremy Brown, 5 years; Mark Smith, 15 years; Neil Fritz, 9 years; Arnold Metzger, 15 years; and Garret Sukanick, 2 years.
