Few changes as Washington Township reorganizes

Solicitor John Ashley opened the Jan. 3 reorganization meeting in Washington Township. He asked for a nomination for chairman. Josh Friebolin was chosen.

Roy Dengler was named to the position of vice chairman.

Todd Weidman was reappointed as manager, zoning officer, and building code official at a rate of $27.84 per hour plus local travel and benefits.

The secretary-treasurer’s wages were set at $18 per hour and $150 for township meeting attendance, local travel mileage and approved benefits. Erin Stenger-Guth was named secretary-treasurer.

Thomas Dengler was named roadmaster for 2017 at a rate of $25.59 an hour. Supervisor Roy Dengler abstained because it is his son.

Davison & McCarthy attorney John Ashley was retained as solicitor at a rate of $100 per hour.

Keystone Consulting Engineers were named for structural and non-structural matters.

Buckno, Lisicky & Company was named to audit the 2016 books and an exit audit for JoAnn Ahner since she is leaving. This will include the EIT records. Cost is not to exceed $9,500

Meetings will be 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month.

Reta Stein was named deputy real estate tax collector.

Laborers’ wages were set at $21.15 per hour plus benefits per the union contract. Part-time laborers will receive $15 per hour with overtime after 40 hours per week.

The zoning hearing board will meet the third Tuesday of the month as needed. Members of the board will receive $40 per hearing up to a maximum of two hearings per night.

The planning commission will meet the last Monday of the month except when the Monday is a holiday.

Chris Noll was named primary sewage enforcement officer and Eric Erb is alternate.

Mike Hammond was named to the zoning hearing board with Timothy O’Brian as alternate. Pete Papay and Paul Krepicz will serve on the planning commission.

Sherry Graver continues as emergency management coordinator.

Renee Evans received a 5-year term on the Northern Lehigh Recreation Authority.

Mileage rate reimbursement was set at 54 cents per mile.

Streetlight assessment was set at a flat rate of $40.80 and the fire hydrant assessment at $31.22. The real estate millage rate for Washington Township is 0.3 of 1 mill.

Subject to change the following roads will be oil and chipped: Old Mill, School and Werley roads, Washington Street, Lovers Lane, part of Cider Press, Overlook Road and Bottom Road.

Eagle Road and Christmas Lane will be scratched and overlaid.
